It is now one week from election day.
Saturday morning I put some signs up around town before we headed out to the city to go get some family pictures done. We left town around 11 am. At that time, I was the only person with ANY signs out. When we got home around 9:30 pm there were some signs up by an incumbent. One of which was BLOCKING the view of one of my signs. I have since put more up near where others have put their signs, but I'm the bigger person and haven't blocked anyone's signs.

Election
I had a customer at work talk to be about my election coming up today. He was very supportive even though he cannot vote for be because he lives in another town. He told me about someone he knows who is building a cafe in a nearby town that wanted to build in Roosevelt. The guy was denied the building permit on the basis that the council felt they needed to protect the existing established businesses. Sounded like the typical "protect the good ol' boys club" at it's finest.
Things like that are what I plan on fighting for when I win this election next month. Many in this city are tired of seeing growth all around while this town is basically stagnant when it comes to real tax base contributing businesses.

City Council Meeting
I went to another city council meeting tonight. Not too much excitement to report. Fire department is wanting trucks in their fleet replaced. They are in dire need of some replacements from what I hear from a friend that is on the department.
A second phase to a subdivision was approved. I failed to ask the question I wanted to because they pushed things through pretty quick. I'd like to know if they are requiring new subdivisions to stub in for the sand wash secondary water. Most likely not because this council as those in the past have a problem looking far ahead into the future.
The police chief, who really doesn't have much care when it comes to how he looks. Pants sagging, black denims not dress pants, stands slouched. I just get the impression he doesn't have any respect for the title he holds. Anyway, he was asking for a raise across the board for his officers. Besides one officer who has been on the force for a long time, the oldest one has only been there for 6 years. 6 have been there under a year and a half.
Not much else went on to report about. They went into executive session again which means it was time for me to go home. Hopefully one day I can find out what that will be like.

City Council
I am running for city council in this wonderful town in which I live. There are multiple reasons why. Some would be this town could use some "young blood" on the council, I've always wanted to try it, and it'll be a good experience WHEN I win.
